Francelise Dawkins - Silkollages
One abstract quilt artist I admire is Francelise Dawkins. She perfected an abstract style she calls "silkollages." Have a look at the World Quilt Project she completed with a group of 45 children in Saratoga. The kids used 1,500 different pieces of fabrics from around the world to make four-panel quilt. I can't wait to see Francelise's 2007 creations!

It was nice seeing and reading about your and quilt. I did a book on the contributions of Afro-American designers and textile artists to the fashion business from 1850 to the present.
The book is called The Threads of Time, the Fabric of History. It has 38 profiles. I included a profile of the quilter Harriet Powers who lived until 1910.
The book is available at amazon.com and from our website: www.toaststrawberries.com
Please check it out.
