Amazon Kindle - Have you tried it yet?
Have you tried the new Amazon Kindle - the hand-size ebook reader? I can't believe it - I got one! Plan to use it extensively this weekend as I downloaded a mystery by a favorite author. Like many others, I'm not crazy about the size page forward and backwards tabs (shown in photo) because it's too easy to leap pages by accident. What I will really enjoy is the EASE of getting new books via Amazon - literally purchase online and the book appears on your device. No trying to learn how to transfer files from a computer. I was surprise to also have internet access via Kindle as well as ability to listen to music via MP3 files. There are about 20 quilting books now available via Amazon Kindle; including a couple of Elm Creek Quilt novels, and quilt history books by Ricky Clark and Merikay Waldvogel. Enjoy!

Amazon is sold out. I really want one, but...
Keep us posted on how it goes for you.
Thanks for the explanation on how Amazon Kindle works. I've heard or read authors and readers mentioning them, but not with the clear description and instructions you give. I think even I (a non-techie)could operate one of these! I'll have to refer to your post and have my readers at Quilting and Patchwork come here to read about Kindle.
I, too, am a Kindle fan. I started a book yesterday (COLD STONE by David Baldacciand) and will finish it tonight! Therev are a bunch of dots along the bottom that show your progress. It is so easy. And being wireless, the download was no problem and I can open and read this anyplace. And it holds scores of books.
Kyra is correct about the ease of accidentally flipping pages forward, but I can live with that. A really great feature is that I can change my font size.
Mary Emma Allen, I am chief among "non-techies" and I can assure you rocket science this is not!
I am (im)patiently waiting for my birthday to arrive this spring in hopes that the Kindle will be in the new version and Hubby will get it for me. He wants to wait until it's improved...but if it's not by April - I WILL have one! Thanks for the review!
