PNWAAQ Opens at the Tacoma Art Museum
Sistah Quilters from the Pacific Northwest African American Quilters Guild are now on display at the Tacoma Art Museum until February 18, 2008. You can see the exhibit, "Threads that Bind: Works by Pacific Northwest African American Quilters" and at least 25 quilts, including Brenetta Ward's “The Women Before Me” (photo). If you have visited the exhibit, do drop us a note to tell us all about it! Enjoy!

Hi Kyra,
I was able to visit our sistah quilters' fine exhibit last Saturday. There are over 50 fabulous quilts on display in the Tacoma Art Museum, itself a very snazzy setting. I was pleased to see many patrons taking their time and oohing and ahhing over the quilts. Several PNWAAQ guild members were also working upstairs in the resource room. I was particularly struck by an elaborate in progress double-wedding ring quilt. I can't imagine trying one of those. Thanks for posting the information on the exhibit on Black Threads, I would have never known about it otherwise.
