Ernestine Holmes is an award-winning Sistah Quilter specializing in story quilts. She is also a University of Michigan-Flint, majoring in Africana Studies (Go Blue!) She recently spoke about African American quilts and slavery at the Hoyt Library in Saginaw, MI. According to her speaker bio, Ms. Holmes, "has developed and implemented a program that provides opportunities for teachers to explore African History through storytelling, music, quilt art, and related folklore."
