It sucks! I wouldn't put that on my dog with that man's picture!
I love the whole idea. The idea, not the dress. A clever dressmaker could have draped the fabric well. The face plasted right in the center is odd. A dress made in the manner of an African garment would have been striking.
I get this...and seeing that the event is a concept and celebration for tv land the dress is a concept and celebration so it works for the occassion and its fun.
I think the previous comment by Karoda makes sense to me intellectually. And it is a little difficult to judge just from a photo. But no matter how much I admire someone (and I do admire Pres. Obama) I think maybe there are other styles of dresses that would be more suitable for that kind of graphic design... and... there might be a place for a different style of portrait of Obama on a dress like this... more water color-ey or something.... or this style of portrait on a different shape/style/material dress... however... fashion is also about breaking the rules. And I think, on the whole, this dress looks good in this moment.KB

I agree with Christine. Probably an
African style would have worked better. This way the front view makes it look as though she is draped in a large bath sheet. The profile view, with the drape just dangling, does not add a thing, IMHO.
I think the designer was very clever, using the fabric as she/he did. It's a conversation piece, that's for sure, and no worse than some of the baaad design we've seen on the red carpet.
