Kyra on Sewing with Nancy!

Check your PBS station - I had the honor of being interviewed on the famed Sewing with Nancy show during the Nancy's Corner segment. Actually, two shows! They will be shown on January 30 and February 6... and repeated July 31 and Aug 7, 2011. (Programs 2425 and 2426). Nancy shares with her viewers my books on Martha Ann Ricks and Harriet Powers.

Nancy Zieman has hosted Sewing With Nancy for the past 26 years. May I just share that Nancy and the staff at the Wisconsin Public TV station are marvelous .... from the make-up artist, film crew, and booking staff. And, Nancy herself is as friendly and as warm as she appears on tv. Enjoy!

S. Epatha Merkerson - Quilter, longest-running African-American character on television

Sistah Quilter S. Epatha Merkerson is on Broadway with the limited run of "Come Back Little Sheba" until March 16, 2008. AT&T sponsors college tour Gee's Bend quilts

AT&T is sponsoring a college tour of selected quilts from Gee's Bend, according to a recent PR Newswire press release. The free tour stops will be open to the public and will include singing, poetry, and storytelling performances by the Gee's Bend Quilters Collective including Mary Lee Bendolph, Revil Mosely, China Pettway, Mary Ann Pettway and Florine Smith.
